"Government always believes NGOs as partners (of the govt) and good governance is not possible without contribution of the NGOs," said Dr Rizvi while speaking as the chief guest at  "Seminar on National Integrity Strategy at divisional level".

NGO Affairs Bureau organised the seminar to highlight the steps that should be taken to be transparent in the NGO sector at Bangla Academy seminar hall in the city,  reports BSS.

"There is no option to underestimate the contribution of NGOs," said Dr Rizvi appraising the role of NGOs in the country.

Public Administration Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder, Executive Director of Ain-O-Salish Kendra and former Adviser to the Caretaker Government Advocate Sultana Kamal, Additional Secretary of Cabinet Division Nazrul Islam, and TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman also spoke at the seminar chaired by Director General, NGO Affairs Bureau M Nurun Nabi Talukder.

Developed by the government of Bangladesh the National Integrity Strategy (NIS) will offer a vision to the development and implementation of reforms to promote better governance and combat corruption in Bangladesh.

It is envisaged that such a strategy will highlight the need for public and private sector reforms, involve public awareness campaigns and seek international cooperation.
