The government will soon provide technically skilled workforce in the country with certification, an official said.
"The government will certify the technically skilled workers from the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA)," said NSDA executive chairman Md. Faruque Hossain.
With the certification, skilled workers will get opportunity to work abroad, he said, adding that the government will sign memorandum of understanding (MoU) with other countries to this effect.
He disclosed the information while addressing an inaugural ceremony of a two-day technical job fair organised by Bdjobs, an online job portal, at a city convention centre on Tuesday, according to a statement. Mr. Hossain attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
He said there is a huge demand for technically skilled workers in the country. "But, due to unavailability of proper platform, suitable candidates don't get jobs whereas employers don't get desired candidates," he said.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bdjobs Fahim Mashroor and president of the Bangladesh Society for Human Resources Management Mohammad Mashequr Rahman Khan attended the ceremony, among others.
Fahim Mashroor said around 50 organisations were taking part in the fair and said the employers would finalise around 1,500 new recruitments from the fair today (Wednesday).
According to organisers, the event is the first ever technical job fair in the country.
