Unapproved fair or exhibition can't be held in the country without prior approval from the authorities concerned, sources said.
The government authorities will take prompt action to stop any such fair or exhibition.
In the backdrop of organising such fairs randomly by some groups or firms, the commerce ministry has instructed the government's different agencies and apparatuses including divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners (DCs) and superintendent of police (SPs) to take required steps instantly.
It has also sent orders to the country's various trade bodies including FBCCI (Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry) in this connection.
Currently, the commerce ministry is the only authority to give permission to organise any local and international trade fairs in Dhaka metropolitan area.
Besides, the district and upazila level administrations are the authorities to allow such events in the rest of the country.
Recently, the ministry was receiving a large number of allegations that unauthorized fairs or exhibitions were being held randomly across the country and the government was losing revenue.
Besides, the person, firms, associations or chambers who took prior approval for such fairs were losing the competitive edge.
When contacted, a senior official of the commerce ministry said, "We have asked the authorities concerned to take urgent steps to stop unauthorized trade fair of exhibitions across the country, if they find."
