Govt urged to take people\\\'s opinions in budget process

RANGPUR, Dec 20 (BSS): The government has been urged to take opinions of the common people in formulating budget so that the hopes and aspirations of the common people are reflected in the budget.

Speakers made the request while speaking at a discussion organised by Rangpur district unit of Democratic Budget Movement here today.

The speakers also stressed for more democratisation of the national budget formulation process and tax systems through ensuring participation of common people in these processes for ensuring good governance.

They also criticised the present budget formulation process what they claimed depends on suggestions of the bureaucrats without people's participations.

Convener of the Movement and valiant freedom fighter Sadrul Alam Dulu presided over the discussion meeting. Member of the Parliament from reserved constituency Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia attended and addressed the discussion as the chief guest.

The representatives of different political parties, professional groups and socio-cultural organisations, freedom fighters, civil society members, women and community leaders, journalists and elite of the city took part in the discussion.

The speakers narrated loopholes in present formulation process of the national budget and tax systems and called upon the government for presenting more democratic budget with people's participations to ensure good governance and root out corruptions.
