Govt urged to withdraw VAT on repatriated commission

A delegation of Bangladesh Indenting Agents' Association (BIAA) led by its President KMH Shahidul Haque met Finance Minister AMA Muhith at the latter's office in the capital on Monday, said a press statement.
KMH Shahidul Haque said indentors act as agent of foreign companies, market their products in Bangladesh and earn foreign currency against the service they provide.
But indenting business has now been facing numerous challenges due to imposition of 15 per cent VAT and 7.5 per cent AIT on the repatriated commission.
Mr Haque further said the highly educated and young workforce can be self-employed easily by indenting business.
He highlighted the problems that have been influencing the business to a large extent and requested the minister for withdrawal of VAT on repatriated indenting commission in foreign currency through PRC.
The finance minister gave a patient hearing and assured them of all support necessary to resolve the problems.
Former president of BIAA Obaidur Rahman, Director Syed Tasadeque Hossain and Secretary Pankaj Chandra Das were in the delegation, among others.
