‘Govt working to bring migration cost down’

State Minister for Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Imran Ahmad on Tuesday said the government is working to bring migration cost down, reports BSS.
"It is possible to earn huge foreign currency by transforming population of the country into skilled manpower and the government is pledged-bound to take steps in favour of expatriates," he said while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of a conference at a city hotel.
International Labour Organisation (ILO) organised the two-day conference titled "Labour Migration Governance: Achievements, Lessons Learned and Way Forward".
The state minister said the government is committed to take steps in favour of overseas workers, who are contributing to boost national economy by sending remittance to the country.
"The government is very much capable to face all challenges over migration."
The ILO organised the conference with a view to informing its working plan and future plan over migration and different challenged being faced by overseas workers across the globe.
UN Resident Coordinator Mia Seppo, President of BAIRA Benazir Ahmed, Additional Secretary of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Dr Ahmed Munirus Salehin, Director General of Wage Earners Welfare Board Gazi Mohammad Zulhas and ILO Country Director Tuomo Poutiainen.
