Green industrialisation can help attain SDGs: Speakers

Speakers at a programme highlighted the importance of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through green industrialisation or environment-friendly industrialisation in the country.
They made the emphasis while addressing a workshop on 'Simplification of Innovations and Services in government job', organised by the Bangladesh Industrial and Technical Assistance Centre (BITAC) at its Khulna centre recently, says a statement.
Industries secretary KM Ali Azam attended the workshop as the chief guest while BITAC director general Anwar Hossain Chowdhury was present as the special guest.
Laying emphasis on implementing the rules, policies and vision of the government Mr Ali Azam, in his speech, said that the industries ministry was working to speed up the pace of industrialisation in the country.
An environment-friendly industrialisation can ensure the country's attainment of Sustainable Development Goals, he said.
There is no alternative to innovation in the government's work and dynamism cannot be instilled in the government jobs without innovations, he said.
Newer innovations and development of the human resources are necessary to advance the country keeping in pace with the fourth industrial revolution (4IR), he added.
Addressing the event, BITAC DG Anwar Hossain underscored the need for the use of technology for the country's development.
He also underscored the need for innovation for building Digital Bangladesh.
