Jet Airways, India's premier full-service international airlines, on Thursday celebrated the completion of a decade of its operations in Bangladesh.
The first privately-owned Indian carrier, which launched its direct air connectivity between Kolkata and Dhaka on December 16 this year, now connects Bangladesh via daily flights with key Indian cities - Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi, said a press release.
As part of its 10th anniversary celebration, Jet Airways has announced an attractive 10-day fare offer that will allow guests from Bangladesh to book tickets at special prices to 10 selected destinations in India and abroad served by the airline's direct network.
The ten destinations include Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Amsterdam, London, Paris and Toronto. While guests can enjoy a flat at 10 per cent discount on prevailing fares from Dec 21 to Dec 30th, 2017, the release said.
"It is indeed a joyous and momentous occasion for us to celebrate 10 years of Jet Airways' successful operations to Dhaka. Bangladesh is one of the fastest developing countries in South Asia and has rapidly gained popularity as both a business and tourist destination with travellers around the world," it said quoting Chairman of Jet Airways Naresh Goyal.
"Air travel between Bangladesh and India has been growing at a steady pace and we're happy that we have been able to further trade, tourism and people to people relationships between the two countries," he was quoted as saying.
He expressed his sincere gratitude to the government of Bangladesh, the civil aviation authority, the entire travel-trade community, passengers and guests for their unstinting support and patronage over the entire last decade.
Speaking on the occasion of completion of its 10 years' operation at a restaurant in the capital, Country Manager of Jet Airways Raj Kumar Bhattacharya said in ten years of operations, Jet Airways has flown over 2.0 million passengers between Bangladesh and India.
A strong annual growth of more than 10 per cent in passenger and cargo revenues reflects the growing business, trade and cultural links between the two countries. With its well-differentiated product and service offering, Jet Airways has clearly established itself as the carrier of choice for its guests," Raj Kumar was quoted as saying.
Jet Airways offers 21 weekly services across three Indian metros of Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata, carrying more than 300,000 passengers per year on an average.
