Hajj, Umrah fair kicks off tomorrow

The 7th Hajj and Umrah Fair will begin at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city tomorrow.
The 4-day fair will seek to bridge between Hajj pilgrims and the Hajj agencies, president of Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) Ibrahim Bahar said this at a press conference at the National Press Club Tuesday in the city.
He said the fair will make to people aware about various Hajj-related information and coordination among the Hajj pilgrims and Hajj agencies.
HAAB and E3 Solutions Ltd are jointly organising the fair. The fair will remain open to the public from 10:00am to 8:00pm every day. About 140 Hajj agencies and 11 banks will exhibit their services at the fair, Mr Bahar said.
He urged to the government to fulfill their charter of demands including reopening a third carrier for smooth flying of Hajj pilgrims apart from Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudi Arabian Airlines.
He said recently the cabinet approved the draft National Hajj and Umrah Policy 1435 Hijri (2014 AD) and the Hajj Package, 2014.
He said according the new policy this year, there will be two packages under the government management for Hajj.
The total cost for a pilgrim will stand at Tk 354,316 for package one while Tk 295,776 for package two.
Mr Bahar said the minimum cost for each pilgrim should not be less than Tk 295,776 under private management for ensuring adequate facilities for the pilgrims.
A total of 101,758 Bangladeshis will perform Hajj this year. Of them some 10,000 pilgrims will perform Hajj under the government arrangement while 91,758 under the private arrangement.
