\\\'Haor problems to be resolved using monga experience\\\'

State minister for finance MA Mannan on Sunday said the government will resolve the problems of Haor areas the way it dealt with in the monga-prone area.

He made the remarks while addressing a seminar titled 'Agricultural Modernisation Initiative for Haor Region: Review & Implementation' organised by Haor Campaign Group with the help of Oxfam Bangladesh at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city, reports UNB.

The junior minister said the budget for fiscal year 2014-15 has touched many sectors which were neglected in the past.

Observing that there have been significant changes in the communication system of Haor areas in the last couple of years, he said this advancement will accelerate the development of agricultural sector.

 Mr Mannan urged the local non-governmental organisations (NGO) to come forward alongside the government for the development of Haor areas.

Prof Dr Foysol Ahmed of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, campaign officer of Oxfam Bangladesh, Mousumi Biswas and Riverine People's secretary Sheikh Rokon also spoke on the occasion.
