Hatem new BKMEA president

Mohammad Hatem, Managing Director of MB Knit Fashion Ltd., has succeeded Salim Osman as the President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA).

Mr. Osman resigned from the post of President due to health issues, according to a statement issued by BKMEA on Sunday.

The announcement was made at a board meeting held on Sunday at the trade body's Dhaka office, the statement added.

The BKMEA board also elected Fazlee Shamim Ehsan and Md Shamsu-zzaman as Executive President and Vice President of the trade body respectively.

The resignation of Mr. Osman, came a day after the BGMEA board elected its new president, replacing SM Mannan Kochi.

The BGMEA board elected Khandoker Rafiqul Islam as the new President at an emergency meeting held at a city hotel on Saturday, after SM Mannan Kochi resigned as its President the same day.

Earlier, on August 11, the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association also elected Amber Group Chairman Shawkat Aziz Russell as its new President, replacing Md Ali Khokon, who had resigned on personal grounds.
