HK-China trade slumps

BEIJING, July 8 (Xinhua): The Chinese mainland's trade with Hong Kong totalled US$132.05 billion in the first five months of 2014, down 26.6 per cent year on year, the Ministry of Commerce revealed on Tuesday.

The mainland's exports to Hong Kong dropped 26.4 per cent year on year to $127.36 billion during the January-May period. Hong Kong's exports to the mainland totalled $4.69 billion, slumping 31.9 per cent year on year, according to figures released by the ministry.

Mainland authorities approved 4,363 Hong Kong-invested projects during the period.
