HSBC, WaterAid ink deal to ensure safe drinking water

HSBC Bank Bangladesh has signed an agreement with WaterAid Bangladesh to ensure safe drinking water in remote areas of Bandarban.
HSBC CEO Francois De Maricourt and WaterAid Bangladesh Country Representative Dr Khairul Islam signed the agreement on behalf of their respective ogranisations in the city on Monday, said a press release.
Under the deal, WaterAid will construct a new Gravity Flow System (GFS) and renovate another GFS at Thanchi Upazila of Bandarban which will benefit hundreds of marginalised ethnic people suffering from acute water crisis.
HSBC Water Programme has already given a grant of US$3.10 million to WaterAid to ensure safe water and sanitation for the people of north-eastern and north-western Bangladesh.
WaterAid Bangladesh is implementing the project. Another grant from HSBC Bangladesh worth $0.83 million is under process, the release added.
