Humayun urges Japan businesses to invest jointly in auto industry

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Sunday urged the Japanese investors to invest jointly in Bangladesh's automobile, power and energy, motorcycle, manufacturing and small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sectors, reports BSS.

"Japanese investors have already invested in the country's different sectors, including motorcycle and fertiliser. The government (of Bangladesh) will continue its support to expand the investment," he said while meeting with the visitng Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) President Yasushi Akahoshi at the Industries Ministry here, said a press release.

During the meeting, they discussed various bilateral issues, including trade and investment, among the two friendly nations.

At the meeting, Yasushi Akahoshi lauded Bangladesh for socio-economic development, saying, Japan is working with Bangladesh as a partner from the beginning. "Japanese companies are marketing their different products, including consumer items, in the country with reputation," he mentioned.

He urged the government to provide more supports to the Japanese investors as they can expand their investment in the Bangladesh.

Humayun said Japanese products have attained the confidence of the common people of Bangladesh for its quality.

Additional Secretary of the Industries Ministry Begum Parag and JETRO Bangladesh Representative Yuji Ando were present at the meeting, among others.
