ICMAB holds conference in Chattogram

Chattogram Branch Council of the Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) on Friday organised a daylong conference on "Bangladesh Toward Developing Nation-Sustainability and Challenges" at a hotel in Chattogram, according to a press release.

Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury inaugurated the conference as chief guest while the theme paper was presented by ICMAB Secretary Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA.

Mr Chowdhury said Bangladesh passed all the indicators for being nominated in the group of developing countries and if this trend sustains till 2024, the country will be recognised as developing country by the United Nations.

The theme and discussion materials of this conference will enrich the knowledge of the participants and will help the country's development through applying those in their respective working fields, he said.

Two technical sessions were held in the conference. In the morning session, a paper titled "LDC Graduation and Challenges for Bangladesh" was presented by Dr. Khondokar Golam Moazzem, Research Director, Centre for Policy Dialogue, and in the afternoon session, a paper titled "Turning Challenges into Opportunities: Post Graduation Era" was presented by Professor Dr. Selim Raihan, Executive Director, SANEM.

Shubhashish Bose, Senior Secretary of Ministry of Commerce, and Md. Mamunur Rashid FCMA, DMD of Index Group, presided over the sessions respectively.

Arif Khan FCMA, CEO and Managing Director of IDLC Finance Ltd, Professor Dr Md Salim Uddin FCA FCMA, Chairman of Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation, took part in the discussion.
