IFIL gets new chairman, vice chairmen

Hossain Mahmud has been elected Chairman of Islamic Finance and Investment Limited (IFIL) while SM Bakhtiar Alam and KBM Moin Uddin Chisty have been elected Vice Chairmen of the company, says a press release.

They were elected at the 311th meeting of the Board of Directors of IFIL held on Sunday.

Hossain Mahmud, son of Ahmed Karim Miah, was born in 1958 at Lakshmipur in a respectable Muslim family. He obtained B.Com (Honours) and M.Com from Dhaka University. He is associated with Shirat Chemicals Ltd. He is also associated with many social organisations. Mr. Mahmud is a sponsor-director of Islamic Finance and Investment Limited and former chairman of the Executive Committee of IFIL.

SM Bakhtiar Alam was born in a respectable Muslim family in 1957 at Bikrampur in Munshiganj. He obtained B.Sc (Honours) and M.Sc from the University of Dhaka. He started his business by establishing Prophecy Furnishers -- one of the renowned furniture house -- in 1974, while studying in Dhaka University.

Mr Alam achieved C R Das Gold Medal for his business performance. He is a member of Board of Trustee, founder treasurer and former chairman of Eastern University. He is also a chartered member of Muktijudhho Jadughar.

Mr Alam is a sponsor-director and immediate past chairman of Islamic Finance and Investment Limited.

KBM Moin Uddin Chisty was born in a respectable Muslim family in Cumilla. He started his business after obtaining MBA degree. He is the president of the Trustee Board of Victoria University of Bangladesh.

Mr Chisty is holding the post of treasurer of Bangladesh Private University Association for long. He is the chairman and managing director of Global Human Resources Development Limited and Global Finance and Capital Management.

Mr Chisty is the proprietor of Global Institute of Business and Technology and Diamond Trade International. He is also actively involved with many social and cultural organisations.
