Md. Shahabuddin Patwary
Md. Shahabuddin Patwary, Additional Secretary (World Bank), Economic Relations Division (ERD), has been appointed Managing Director (MD) of Infrastructure Investment Facilitation Company (IIFC), says a statement.
His new appointment is effective from January 09, 2020, for an interim period in addition to his main role at the ERD.
He joined the ERD under the Ministry of Finance as the World Bank Wing chief on December 17, 2019. Prior to this assignment, he worked at the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, D.C. as economic minister from October, 2014 to Oct, 2019. Before his joining the embassy in Washington, he worked at the Ministry of Commerce in different capacities from October, 2009, to August, 2014. He was also posted at the Bangladesh High Commission in London as Commercial Counselor during June, 2003, to October, 2007. Besides, he worked at the Audit and Accounts Department in various capacities since his joining the department as a member of 1986 BCS: Audit and Accounts in 20 December, 1989.
Mr. Patwary obtained his Bachelor Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from BUET in 1986, and completed Masters in Government Financial Management in 2000 from Ulster University.
The IIFC works nationally and internationally across two continents in Asia, Africa. It was incorporated in 1999 as a company limited by guarantee under the Companies Act 1994.
