The National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) in India on Thursday expressed its interest to work in collaboration with the SME Foundation in Bangladesh for integrated development in the SME sector, especially in the industrial area.
Leaders of NSIC expressed the interest when a three-member delegation, headed by chairman-cum-managing director of NSIC Ravindra Nath, met chairperson of SME Foundation KM Habib Ullah at the latter's office in the city, said a news release.
The NSIC also agreed to sign a bi-lateral memorandum of understanding (MOU) soon on this issue.
Dr. Syed Md. Ihsanul Karim, managing director of the SME Foundation, SM Shaheen Anwar, general manager, Nazeem H. Satter and SM Nurul Alam, deputy general managers of SME Foundation, and Dr. Pralay Dey, senior general manager of NSIC, were present at the meeting.
Mr Habib Ullah told the delegation that Bangladesh government was sincere in the SME development with a view to realising its Vision 2021.
Sharing of knowledge and technology could be transferred among the two organisations having the same objectives and practices of socio-economic, cultural and official themes, he said.
Bangladesh government adopted a number of policies including the National Industrial Policy for the development of the sector.
Mr Nath expressed his intention to work with the SME Foundation for the betterment of the SME sector.
Establishment of an Incubation Centre in Bangladesh with the support of SME Foundation would be an initiative aimed at accelerating access to the improved facilities for Bangladesh entrepreneurs, he said.
The initiative, he said, will also help mobilise as well as facilitate the flow of potential resources to accelerate investment in the SME sector across the country.
They also exchanged ideas about different issues including capacity building, training, technology transfer, women entrepreneurship development, credit facilities, easy loan for SME sector, poverty alleviation and employment generation.
