Bangladesh has called on US companies to invest in data centres, cloud services and digital infrastructure as part of its bid to accelerate digital transformation.
The appeal was made by Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser overseeing the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, during a meeting with US Charge d'Affaires Tracy Anne Jacobson at ICT Tower on Thursday.
Taiyeb said the World Bank-supported Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) project would be launched soon, creating new opportunities for international collaboration and private sector engagement.
He stressed that Bangladesh was working to position itself as a regional hub of technology and innovation, with international partnerships playing a crucial role.
Issues such as the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPO), data governance and the upgrading of police communication systems were also brought to the table.
Jacobson praised the government's digital transformation efforts and assured that the United States would continue to provide technical assistance and share expertise to support Bangladesh's ICT growth.
ICT Secretary Sheesh Haider Chowdhury, NDC, US Embassy Deputy Counsellor for Political/Economic Affairs and Head of Political Section David Mu, and Commercial Counsellor Paul Frost were present at the meeting.
