Islami Bank mobilises highest deposits in 2023

Islami Bank's Managing Director and CEO Mohammed Monirul Moula on Saturday said the contribution of the bank to the economic development of the country was remarkable.

In 2023, Islami Bank held the top position in all business indicators, and it held the highest deposits in the country's banking sector, with an amount of Tk 1,530 billion deposits including Tk 120 billion fresh deposits last year, he said at the inaugural ceremony of a two-day Business Development Conference 2024 of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC that began in the city on January 20.

Dr Tanveer Ahmad, Vice Chairman of the bank, inaugurated the conference as the chief guest.

The bank provided small investments to 1.7 million (17 lakh) families in 33 thousand villages, of whom 92 per cent were women, said Mohammed Monirul Moula while presiding over the programme.

Islami Bank contributed to employment generation for around 10 million people, and about 0.08 billion people of the country were directly or indirectly involved with Islami Bank, he added.

He gave directions for achieving progress in remittance collection, investment, and deposits.

The bank paid the highest tax to the government, and it was recognised as the country's 'Strongest Islamic Retail Bank', he noted.

He also said that 23 per cent of the country's total remittances were coming through the Islamic Bank alone.

The bank received the 'Bangladesh Bank Remittance Award-2023' for collecting the highest remittance and the "Payment Excellent Award 2023" by the world-renowned payment gateway VISA.
