Speakers at a seminar has urged the local IT professionals to register their names online at free of cost to sit for the second Information Technology Engineers Examination (ITEE).
The test will enable the local IT professionals to compete for jobs in the IT sector, especially in the international market.
The IT professionals can register themselves at the website: www.bditec.gov.bd till the middle of March. The registration started on February 1, and the examination will be held on April 27.
The BD-ITEC organised a seminar on "Awareness of ITEE" at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Saturday to inspire the professionals to sit for the ITEE examination.
Prof Dr A S M Latiful Hoque, Head of CSE Department of BUET, presided over the seminar. Prof Dr Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam of the department presented the keynote paper.
Chief Adviser of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) ITEE Project Hideo Hoya also gave a presentation at the programme. It was attended, among others, by ITEE Project Director Amzad Hossain, a number of BUET teachers and students, and IT professionals.
The ITEE, mutually recognised by 12 Asian countries, is a national standardised examination of Japan for IT professionals.
The Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the ICT Ministry recently moved to introduce ITEE in Bangladesh under a project - Capacity Building on ITEE Management Project (BD-ITEC) - with support of the JICA.
The first ITEE examination in Bangladesh was held on October 27, 2013, where local IT professionals scored the second highest next to the Vietnamese, among six IT Professionals Examination Council (ITPEC) member countries - Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
