Janata Bank Ctg region earns Tk 3.16b profit

CHITTAGONG, Feb 25: Janata Bank Chittagong region has earned Tk 3.16 billion profit, despite adverse externalities, in the last calendar year.

It was disclosed in a branch managers' conference organised recently in the city by branches of the region. Professor Mohammed Moinuddin and Dr. Nitai C Nag, directors of the Janata Bank, attended the function as honoured guests.

The directors said that the state-owned commercial banks have been playing important role in the country's economy, especially in the development of agriculture, small and big industries and poverty alleviation, since independence of Bangladesh, which led to the change of fate of the common people.

The state-owned banks have worked from their social responsibility. In this era of competitiveness the state-owned banks should progress towards their achievements aiming to meet the hopes and aspirations of the country's common people and demand of the customers, the directors said.

Chaired by General Manager of the divisional office Abu Naser Chowdhury, the meeting was addressed among others by Mobarakul Islam, Tajul Islam, Nazim Uddin Quraishi.

Branch Manager of 80 branches of Janata Bank in Chittagong, Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachari and Cox'sBazar attended the annual branch conference, a press release said.
