Japan to provide $3.5m for stranded people in Indian Ocean

The Japanese government has decided to provide $ 3.5 million to support the people remained stranded in the Indian Ocean, reports UNB.

Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida announced the decision in a keynote speech at a recent high-profile seminar on Peacebuilding, National Reconciliation and Democratisation in Asia, said a press release issued by Japanese Embassy in the city on Thursday.

Japan's humanitarian assistance will be realised through providing temporary shelters, health and nutritional supports through International Organisation for Migration (IOM); and reinforcing the capacity of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to gather, share and analyse information on people's movement on the sea.
