Japanese help sought to set up marine research instt

The government has sought support from Japan to set up a marine research institute and a modern marine aquarium in the country to conduct research on marine resources.

State Minister for Science and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Yeafesh Osman sought the cooperation from Japan when Japanese Senior Vice Minister for Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Yoshitaka Sakurada met him in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.

Referring to Japan-Bangladesh good ties, the state minister urged the Japan government to enhance its overall cooperation on various sectors of Bangladesh, including science and ICT research, innovation, exchange of human resources and nuclear research.

In reply, the Japanese senior vice minister assured that Japan would continue its all-out support to Bangladesh. Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka Shiro Sadoshima was present at the meeting.
