Country's jewellers are worried over the security of their jewellery shops during the long Eid-ul-Fitr vacation.
"During Eid vacation all the shopping malls, markets and offices will remain closed. And taking the advantage of this serene environment robberies may take place in the gold shops," Bangladesh Jewellers Samity general secretary Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen told the FE Sunday.
He said: "So during the vacation, the owners of jewellery shops remain anxious over the security of their shops. On last couple of years many robbery incidents took place in the jewellery shops on Eid vacations."

Mr Shaeen said they have sent letter to the BJS district offices to talk to the authority concerned to ensure security for their jewellery shops. Besides, extra precautionary measures including raising the number of security guards have been taken to ensure security of gold shops, Mr. Shaheen added.
