Joint efforts to uplift SMEs sought

RAJSHAHI, Nov 19 (BSS): Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, MP, has called for collective efforts of all government agencies, entrepreneurs, banks and other financial institutions concerned for effective and successful promotion of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for boosting the country's economy.
The minister made the appeal while inaugurating a five-day Regional SME Fair-2014, Rajshahi as the chief guest here today.
SME Foundation organised the fair at Green Plaza in the city with a view to promoting local SME sector, enhancing production of quality SME products, exhibiting and introducing SME goods for expanding business, trade and commerce.
The minister also emphasised the need for strengthening the efforts of generating enlightened entrepreneurs at grassroots level through the best uses of area-based industrial potentialities.
A large spectrum of locally produced SME goods including leather products, jute-made products, handicrafts, processed agricultural products, electrical and electronic goods, clothes, design and fashion wares and other products are being exhibited in around 50 stalls at the fair.
Another report adds: The minister categorically said today that the present government is very much positive towards business and trade related development in Rajshahi.
"We are pledged bound to balanced development and reduction of regional disparity for the sake of overall development of the country," the minister said while sharing views as the chief guest with the businessmen and entrepreneurs here.
Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) organised the meeting styled "What can be done for flourishing Industries and Trade in Rajshahi".
