JS body for transparency in Waqf management

Officials concerned have been directed to ensure appropriate steps for transparent and accountable management of Waqf property.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Religious Affairs Ministry gave the directive from a meeting held in the city on Sunday, reports BSS.
"In the meeting the committee also urged the ministry to take steps for proper management of religious institutes of different communities alongside ensuring transparency and accountability of the (government's) Waqf Administration."
The meeting also reviewed the management system of religious institutes in other Muslim countries of the Middle East.
This was the eighth meeting of the committee presided over by the committee's chairman Bazlul Haque Harun.
Committee members Habibur Rahman Mollah, Sadhan Chandra Majumder, Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin, Syed Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari and Dilara Begumn joined the meeting.
Secretary of the religious affairs ministry Chowdhury M Babul Hasan and other officers concerned were also present at the meeting.
