RANGPUR, May 26 (BSS): Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak jointly laid the foundation stone of Dr M A Wazed Miah High-Tech Park in Rangpur on Thursday.
As a result, the construction works of this High-Tech Park began at Kholishakuri area in the city to fulfil hopes of the young generation and entrepreneurs of the region.
The JS speaker joined the foundation-laying programme virtually from the capital city as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Shirin said with the establishment of Dr M A Wazed Miah High-Tech Park, the children of this area will be able to make positive impacts on the socio-economic environment of the country by working online.
About 5,000 youths will be employed in Rangpur through the implementation of Hi-Tech Park, she said, adding that the Hi-Tech Park will open the door to new possibilities for technology-based industrialization, youth employment and development of the hardware and software industries.
Managing Director (Additional Secretary) of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Awami League Central Working Committee Member Hosne Ara Lutfa, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohd Abdul Alim Mahmud, Deputy Commissioner Md Asib Ahsan, Project Director (Deputy Secretary) of the IT/Hi-Tech Park at District Level (12 Districts) Project A.K.A.M. Fazlul Hoque, Project Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Learning and Earning Project Md Humayun Kabir, Chairman of Dr MA Wazed Miah Memorial Foundation AKM Chhayadat Hossain Bakul, President of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and President of city Awami League Shafiur Rahman also attended the programme, among others.
Talking to BSS on May 25, Project Director (Deputy Secretary) of the IT/Hi-Tech Park at District Level (12 Districts) Project A.K.A.M. Fazlul Hoque said Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority is implementing the Taka 176-crore project initiated by the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division to establish knowledge-based IT industries and generate employment for the new IT entrepreneurs.
Dr M A Wazed Miah High-Tech Park will have a seven-storey Multi-Tenant Building (MTB) with steel structures, a three-storey ultramodern Cineplex, a three-storey Dormitory and other structures with modern facilities.
The construction work of Dr. M A Wazed Miah High-Tech Park in Rangpur is expected to complete by June, 2024 to create employment opportunities for both male and female youths of the region.
