Kunming expo to promote Bangladesh investment opportunities

The 3rd China-South Asia Expo (CSA) and the 23rd Kunming Import and Export Fair will begin today ( Friday) .

The five-day expo and fair will be held from June 12 to 16 at the Dianchi Convention and Exhibition Centre in Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan province.

Business leaders from ICCB, FBCCI and DCCI already left Dhaka separately to join the CSA Expo and the 10th China-South Asia Business Forum, to be held on the sidelines of the EXPO.

China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the Government of Yunan province will jointly organise the 10th CSA Business Forum.The business leaders include International Chamber of Commerce, Bangladesh (ICCB) president Mahbubur Rahman, vice president Rokia A. Rahman, Vice-President of the FBCCI Mahabubul Alam and former Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) president Asif Ibrahim.

A 25-memebr business team led by the President of FBCCI Abdul Matlub Ahmad will leave the capital on June 14.

Bangladeshi businessmen will seek more Chinese investment at the forum.  Besides, a memorandum of understanding between the FBCCI and the CCPIT will be signed on June 15.

The Bangladeshi business delegation will also meet business community in China and have several bilateral meetings with the Chinese businessmen and investors.  

The main objective of the business delegation is to establish linkage between the businessmen of China and Bangladesh and also explore new export destination.

Regional cooperation, development of women entrepreneurship and cooperation between China and South Asia will be discussed at the forum, said the participating businessmen.  

The China-South Asia Business Forum has been taking place since 2004 aiming to develop trade relation between China and South Asian countries.

In the business forum ministers, ambassadors and business leaders will deliver lectures on trade and economic ties between China and South Asia.
