Local items in great demand at DITF

Local products are largely dominating the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF), as the customers are showing their interest in locally manufactured products because of their low prices and improved quality, reports UNB.
The DITF that began on Thursday at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city drew a large number of visitors on Friday, the second day and first weekend after the start of the fair.
During visit, it was seen that stalls of local companies are attracting the low- and middle-income buyers.
The traders have expressed satisfaction over the increasing trend of public gathering from the beginning of the fair.
Talking to the news agency, the Walton authorities said with existing models, Walton has brought 30 new models of television, refrigerator, air-conditioner, motorcycle, mobile and home appliance products.
Mr Emdadul Haque Sarkar, chief of Walton's marketing department, said on the occasion of the fair it has brought two new models (254 litre and 317 litre) of refrigerator and very soon it is going to release more 11 models. On the occasion of DITF, Walton pavilion is providing a special price reduction upto Tk 1,000.
Mr Md Rayhan, additional director of Walton's sales department, said Walton has brought some new models of television, including 32-inch internet surfing TV, 19-inch to 24-inch color line LED TV, 55-inch to 65-inch curved and LED TV (organic light emitting diode) TV and 65-inch AHD (Ultra high definition) 3D TV.
It is learnt that about 34 models of home appliance and kitchen appliance products are put on display at the Walton pavilion.
Mr Akramuzzaman Apu, Walton pavilion manager, told the news agency that like the previous years, Walton has put special emphasis on the decoration and beauty of its pavilion.
He claimed that, "If a person comes in the fair, he or she must visit Walton pavilion".
