Local RMG unit to invest $20.20m in Mongla EPZ

Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA Sayed Nurul Islam and managing director of Moonstar Fashion SM Amzad Hossain exchanging documents after signing the agreement on behalf of their respective sides in the capital on Wednesday.
M/s Moonstar Fashion Limited will invest US$ 20.20 million in the Mongla Export Processing Zone (EPZ) to establish a readymade garments industry.
In this connection, an agreement was signed between Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and Moonstar Fashion in the city on Wednesday, said a statement issued by the BEPZA.
Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA Sayed Nurul Islam and managing director of Moonstar Fashion SM Amzad Hossain signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.
The local venture is expected to produce 30.66 million pieces of underwear, 7.55 million pieces of boxer shorts, 15.10 million pieces of intimate garments and 11.33 million pieces of swimming and active wear annually.
The statement also said 2832 Bangladeshi nationals would get employment opportunity in the factory.
Executive chairman of BEPZA Maj Gen Mohd Habibur Rahman, member (Engineering) Md Abdur Rahman, member (Finance) AZM Azizur Rahman, secretary Md Shawkat Nabi, general manager (Public Relations) Nazma Binte Alamgir and general manager (Investment Promotion) Md Nurul Haque were present at the deal signing ceremony.
