Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid is going to join NCC Bank Limited as its managing director and chief executive officer in the middle of next month.
The central bank has already approved a proposal put forward by the NCC Bank's board of directors in this regard, a senior official of the Bangladesh Bank (BB) told the FE on Saturday.
He also said Mr. Rashid may join the National Credit and Commerce (NCC) Bank Limited after his release from United Commercial Bank (UCB) Limited.
Currently, he is serving as the Additional Managing Director (Business) of UCB.
Mr. Rashid is a seasoned professional with 31 years of experience particularly in the fields of finance and banking in both global and local markets across several cultures in Bangladesh, India, and Australia & New Zealand.
Talking to the FE, Mr. Rashid said he is expecting to join NCC Bank in the second half of December 2020.
He was also an Independent Director and Chairman of the Board's Audit Committee of IPDC Finance Limited.
Besides, Mr. Rashid worked as Group CFO of BRAC and BRAC International, prior to which he worked as the Additional Managing Director (Wholesale Banking/SME Businesses and Treasury) of BRAC Bank Limited.
In his banking career, he managed almost all functional areas covering business (Corporate & SME), Finance, Operations, Risk Management (Credit, Market & Operational), Compliance, Human Resources and General Services.
Earlier, he was the Head of Planning for Citibank-Australia and New Zealand for its Corporate and Institutional Banking Business.
He also served as Director of BRAC EPL Stock Brokerage Limited, UCB Capital Management Limited and UCB Investment Ltd.
Educated and trained internationally, Mr. Rashid did his MBA (Finance) from IBA of Dhaka University (DU) and MA in International Economics & Finance from Brandeis University, USA.
He is also an FCPA (Australia). He received the Vice Chancellor's Gold Medal at IBA (DU) in 1989 and President's Gold Medal at Marine Academy in 1985.
In his multifaceted career, Mr. Rashid was a mariner in his early professional life and a lecturer of finance at IBA (DU).
