Masud Kamal took over the charge as Chairman of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) on Saturday, says the organisation in a statement.
Prior to the appointment, he served as a member of Physical Science of the BAEC. Masud Kamal joined the BAEC as a scientific officer in 1989.
He completed his M.Sc. degree in Physics from Jahangirnagar University and M.Phil in Physics from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka. During his service life he was the Director of Radioactivity Testing and Monitoring Laboratory, Chattogram and was also Director of the BAEC Atomic Energy Centre in Chattogram. He is an expert in health Physics, Environmental Radiation Monitoring and Gamma-ray Spectrometry. He acted as the National Project Coordinator for several research projects of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He was also actively involved in implementation of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Project.
At present he is involved with two international research projects. He has a number of research articles published in different national and international journals. He was born in Shibpur under Nangalkot of Cumilla district.
