Mobile internet subscribers hits 138.59m

Both mobile internet users and mobile subscribers witnessed a growth of nearly 3.89 million and 1.47 million respectively in April.

The rise has brought the cumulative count of internet subscribers to 138.59 million, marking a record growth, according to the data of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

After six months of continuous decline, the number of mobile internet subscribers in the country increased by 1.17 million at the end of February and the volume continues to flourish.

During this period, mobile operators in the country have added 1.47 million new subscribers, bringing the total number of subscribers to 193.73 million in April.

The largest operator Grameenphone gained 730,000 subscribers in the month while Robi Axiata and Banglalink gained respectively 444,000 and 290,000 users respectively. The government-owned telecom operator Teletalk added only 2,000 subscribers.

The total number of subscribers for each mobile operator--Grameenphone, Robi Axiata, Banglalink Digital Communications, and Teletalk Bangladesh --stood at 83.95 million, 58.51 million, 44.72 million, and 6.55 million respectively, at the end of April, as per the data.
