The government is going to set up a modern flour mill at Postogola in the city soon, official sources said.
The ministry of food (MoF) has asked the directorate of food to submit a work plan in this connection shortly. The directorate will monitor the implementation process of the project, they said.
The MoF directed the authorities concerned at the last inter-ministerial meeting presided over by former food minister Mr Ramesh Chandra Sen to implement the project properly and in time.
The minister asked the project director to closely monitor its implementation. He also directed the authorities concerned to work according to specification.
The Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory (BMTF) got the work order of setting up the mill.
Approached by the FE correspondent to know about the cost of construction of the mill and its annual production capacity, an official, however, declined to comment saying that they are not authorised to tell anything to the media.
