Singapore Airlines has been voted the best airline, while Emirates the best cargo airline, Novo Air the best domestic airline and Kuala Lumpur, the most popular destination, by the frequent fliers of Bangladesh.
The frequent fliers opinion poll was conducted by The Bangladesh Monitor, a travel trade publication, and was supported by the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka as the hospitality partner.
The representatives of awards winning airlines received Monitor Airline of the Year 2014 awards at a ceremony in the city on Monday, said a press release.
Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Rashed Khan Menon, MP, handed over the awards as the chief guest, while Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Khorshed Alam Chowdhury was present at the function as the special guest.
Singapore Airlines also won the Best Business Class, Best Long-Haul Airline and Best Frequent Flyer programme Awards.
Emirates Airline won the awards for the Best Economy Class and Best In-flight Entertainment Programme.
The Best Short-haul Airline Award went to Bangkok Airways, while the Best Budget Carrier Award to Malindo Air.
Thai Airways was awarded for the Best In-flight Meal in Economy Class, while Turkish Airlines for The Best In-flight Meal in business class. The Best Air Express Company Award went to DHL Express.
Special Jury Board Award went to Biman Bangladesh Airlines for commendable Hajj operations in 2014.
A total of 2,147 frequent fliers expressed their views on their favourite airlines during the period under review.
