COMILLA, Sept 27 (UNB): US Ambassador in Bangladesh Dan W Mozena has suggested Bangladesh to enhance its trade ties with neighbours.
Mozena made the remarks while talking to journalists at Comilla Circuit House on completion of his 64-district tour here today.
The US envoy said Bangladesh will have to build a good regional system with India and Myanmar and enhance its trade ties with Indian seven-sister states utilising the easier communication system.
The US envoy observed Bangladesh will emerge as one of the key economic giants in the world if it can overcome the challenges it is now facing.
He said Bangladesh is working to overcome the challenges in the areas of electricity, gas, communication system, education and health for turning the country into a middle-income one.
"Bangladesh is a country of enormous potential," he said, adding, that the country will one day roar in the global economy as a tiger.
He termed Comilla and Chittagong very rich regions.
The envoy appreciated the role of Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (Bard) and said so far his knowledge goes there is no such development institution in the world.
