Muhith inaugurates handicraft exhibition

Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith Friday inaugurated a five-day handicraft exhibition at the National Museum in the city aimed at promoting traditional products.
The minister applauded the initiative for holding the fair saying it gave a big opportunity to the craftsmen by providing them with a platform to showcase their products.
The National Museum organised the exhibition marking the International Mother Language Day on February 21 where 27 stalls have been set up to display handicrafts from different parts of the country. Deputy Director of Bangla Academy Dr Aminur Rahman Sultan presented the key-note paper. Chairman of University Grants Commission Professor Nazrul Islam chaired the function. The objective of the event is to identify and protect the vanishing traditional crafts and improve market facilities for the products.    — BSS
