Mustafa Kamal seeks Dutch, Austrian investments in power, energy

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal urged Denmark and Austria to invest more in Bangladesh, especially in the country's power and energy sector and skills development.
The minister requested the two European envoys in Bangladesh when they called on him at the Planning Commission office.
Austrian Ambassador in Bangladesh Bernhard Wrabetz called on the the minister on Wednesday while the Danish ambassador in Bangladesh Hanne Fugl Eskjaer on Tuesday.
Mr Kalmal requested the Austrian Ambassador to help Bangladesh develop its manpower as the knowledge-based human resources.
He urged the Danish envoy Ms Eskjaer to invest in setting up wind power and land-based Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) platform in Bangladesh.
Both the European ambassadors thanked the Bangladesh government for making good economic progress in the country.
Meanwhile, the planning minister in another seminar on the day said Bangladesh's present challenge is developing the existing manpower to human resources.
"There is no alternative to ensuring quality and education and training for the manpower," he said at the seminar on "Skilled-based education for better livelihood".
The Institute of Diploma Engineers' Bangladesh (IDEB) organised the seminar at its office in Dhaka.
The seminar was addressed, among others, by the Director General of the Colombo Plan Staff Collage Dr Muhammad Naim Yakub, President of IDEB AKMA Hamid, Director General of the Technical Education Directorate Mohammad Shahjahan Mian.
