NBR official receives certificate of IDEAL

Japan International Trade Organisation (JETRO) Dhaka Country Representative Yuji Ando hands over the certificate to Nusrat Jahan, Deputy Director, Central Intelligence Cell of National Board of Revenue (NBR) recently at NBR for successful completion of a four-month training programme for fiscal year 2020-21

Nusrat Jahan, Deputy Director, Central Intelligence Cell of National Board of Revenue (NBR) has successfully completed a prestigious training programme of the Institute of Developing Economies Advanced School (IDEAL) of Japan.

Japan International Trade Organisation (JETRO) Dhaka Country Representative Yuji Ando handed over the certificate to Nusrat Jahan recently at NBR for successful completion of the four-month training programme for fiscal year 2020-21, offered first time online due to Covid-19 pandemic in the world.

The JETRO chief said many Japanese companies are interested in doing business in Bangladesh and hopes that this program will help Bangladesh government take a great initiative to improve business environment, especially in Tax and Custom policy, according to a press release of JETRO.

Some 21 government officials from 19 countries also completed the four-month training programme offered by the IDE-JETRO since 1991 in Japan with all accommodation.

So far 25 officials from different ministries including finance, NBR, Planning Ministry, Post and Telecommunication and Board of Investment took part in the training among 455 government officials from Asia and African countries.

The JETRO chief has told the FE that this year the training will also be conducted online and a candidate from the NBR has been selected to participate as continuation of the offer for Bangladesh.
