A new book titled 'Politiconomy of Bangladesh: Essays and Analysis' has just published. Written by Professor Abduallah A Dewan, the book is a collection of the author's various articles and essays previously published in three English newspapers of the country.

The book is divided in 14 chapters and articles based on 14 different topics and thoughts, including education and learning; good governance; politicians and political goods; monetary policy and interest rates; poverty reduction; international economics; religion and economics; and financial markets.

Abdullah Dewan is currently a professor of economics at Eastern Michigan University, USA. In the preface of the book, he writes: "This book is a carefully curated compilation of articles of a multitude of my newspaper opinion columns published in several English daily (March 2005-January 2024) that are multidisciplinary in areas, issues, and interests. They reflect the past and present state of the politics and economics of Bangladesh with some prognosis of what to expect in the future."

He adds: "Although the articles were originally intended for avid opinion column readers, they are now repurposed for a much wider body of reader. More specifically, the book would be of interest to BCS examination candidate, Bangladesh Bank executives, university faculty and students, politicians and policy makers, journalist, retired officials, and of course, general readers at large."

Published by Joybangal Prokashani, the book is priced at Tk 800/US$40.
