Wartsila celebrates 20 yrs of presence in Bangladesh
Wartsila, a leading equipment and technology provider in power, energy and marine sector, celebrated its 20 years of business presence in Bangladesh. To mark the occasion, the Finnish company organised a function at Radisson Water Garden Hotel in the city on Tuesday, which was addressed by Jaakko Eskola, President and CEO of Wartsila Corporation, Javier Cavada Camino, President of Energy Solutions at Wartsila Corporation Corporation, and many other distinguished guests. Eskola thanked business partners and all stakeholders, reiterating the company's commitment to Bangladesh. "We recently launched our company purpose -- enabling sustainable societies with smart technology. Central to the purpose is our commitment to promoting a low emissions economy, and providing intelligent ways of producing and using energy," said the Wartsila Corporation president. — UNB

NPO, BSPP to develop pharma sector
National Productivity Organisation (NPO) and Bangladesh Society for Pharmaceutical Professionals (BSPP) have agreed to work together to improve the quality of medicines and increase the production and export. To this end, the two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on mutual cooperation on Monday. NPO's director SM Ashrafuzzaman and BSPP president Prof Ishtiaque Mahmud signed the MoU. According to the MoU, both the organisations will arrange at least two technical expert service programmes every year with financial support from BSPP.— BSS
