Seminar on flower industry
Speakers at a seminar on Wednesday said Bangladesh has the potential to boost its flower industry. Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) with the support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID)'s Agriculture Value Chains (AVC) Project organised the seminar on ‘Investment opportunities in the flower industry’ at its office, said a press release. President of China Horticulture Business Services Dr Heidi Wernett who made a presentation at the seminar said, "The commercial flower sector is booming worldwide. Currently, Bangladeshi farmers are producing US$10-20 million of flowers grown on 6,300 hectares of field." "The flower industry in the USA is worth US$26 billion and in China it is worth of US$23 billion. But Asia is the fastest growing region for the flower industry," she said. In this sector, Wernett said, profitability is 3-5 time higher than the vegetables. —UNB
School Banking Conference
Bangladesh Bank recently organised a School Banking Conference 2018 on the Dhaka Residential Model School & College premises at Mohammadpur recently. At the initiative of 57 commercial Banks, around 600 students from 60 schools in Dhaka district took part in the daylong conference. Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Abu Hena Md Razi Hasan inaugurated the conference as the chief guest. Midland Bank Limited also participated in the conference.

China-Myanmar trade fair
YANGON, May 16: A China-Myanmar trade fair is due to begin in Yangon today (Thursday), the first time for Myanmar to host such fair, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Wednesday.
