Finance Div releases Q3 cash incentives
The government has released the third installment of cash incentives amounting to Tk 11.25 billion for disbursement among major exporters for fiscal year 2017-18. In a circular issued on Wednesday, the ministry of finance has requested the Chief Accounts Officer of the Finance Division to release the fund in favour of the central bank to start disbursement of the money for the period of January to March in 2018. In the current fiscal, the government has decided to release a total of Tk 45 billion as cash incentives. Of the Tk 11.25 billion cash incentives, the jute and jute product sub-sector will get Tk 1.25 billion in the third installment, while other sectors will receive the rest Tk 10. billion. At present, a total of 27 export sectors are receiving cash incentives. The sectors that are enjoying the cash subsidy include apparel manufacturing, frozen foods and fish, leather products, finished leather, agro-based products, and agro-processing.

BCSIR Science Fair begins today
A three-day science and industrial technology fair 2018 begins today (Thursday) in the city aiming to promote inventions made by scientists. Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) will organise the fair on the premises of its headquarters in the city, the council said on Wednesday. Nearly 480 participants will showcase more than 177 science projects on various issues, including food safety, health, education and transportation system. The fair will remain open for the visitors from 10.00am to 7.00pm every day. Science and Technology Minister Yeafesh Osman is expected to inaugurate the fair as the chief guest. Anwar Hossain, secretary of Science and Technology Ministry, and Dr Pran Gopal Datta, former vice chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), will attend the inaugural ceremony as the special guests. — FE Report

No load shedding in Ctg : PDB
CHITTAGONG, Jan 24: The consumers of electricity will be able to recharge the electricity bills through their mobile SIM after one month in the Chittagong region. Chief Engineer of Power Development Board Chittagong region Engineer Prabir Kumar Sen said this at a view exchange meeting with the members of Chittagong Press Club at the Club conference hall today. Engineers Sen said there are 18 electricity generation plants having production capacity of 1600 mege watt per day in both the public and private sector. He said that currently there is no load shedding of electricity in Chittagong but the customers are suffering due to the road expansion works, ongoing renovation in transmission line and development schemes under a Power System Master Plan. — Our Correspondent
