Midland Bank opens Khulna branch

Midland Bank Limited formally opened its Khulna Branch at Shibbari Mor of Khulna Sadar recently. Md. Ahsan-uz Zaman, Managing Director and CEO of the Bank formally inaugurated the branch as the chief guest. Sharif Atiar Rahman, Senior Vice President, Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Captain M Tarak, Managing Director (CC) of Khulna Ship Yard andother businessmen and the local elite were also present. — Statement

BSTI seals off four jar-water factories

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) sealed off four jar-water producing factories apart from slapping a fone of Tk 200,000 on them in the city's Mohammadpur area on Sunday. A joint team of BSTI and Rapid Action Battalion team sealed off the plants as they were running business without the BSTI's approval. The team also sentenced two people to three months' imprisonment and fined the four establishments-KS Food and Beverage of Chand Udyan, Antar Drinking Water, Reliable Drinking Water of Dhaka Udyan and Swachchha Drinking Water of Beribadh. — UNB
