BCB gets new AMD
Zafar Alam has joined the Bangladesh Commerce Bank Limited (BCB) as its Additional Managing Director (AMD) recently. He started his career with the Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited in 1992 as a probationary officer. Prior to his joining the Bangladesh Commerce Bank, he had been working as the deputy managing director of Social Islami Bank. He has a vast experience in his 27-year banking career. He has a diploma in Islamic Banking from IBTRA. — Statement
BFIU holds first town hall meet in Teknaf
Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) held its first town hall meeting through lead bank system at Parjatan Hotel Ne Taung in Teknaf recently. Employees and managers from all banks in Teknaf took part in the meeting on 'Money Laundering and Combating Financing of Terrorism'. Abu Hena Mohd. Razee Hassan, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, also Co-Chair, Asia Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG), and Head of BFIU, addressed the programme as the chief guest. Mohammad Abdur Rab, Joint Director of BFIU, presented a paper on 'combating the financing of terrorism and other financial crimes: Role of Bank' in the meeting. — UNB
'Digital campaign': Walton fan buyer gets new car
Moshiur Rahman, an entrepreneur of computer parts recycling trade in Dhaka, won a brand new car after buying Walton ceiling fan during the ongoing 'digital campaign' of Walton, a local brand. Walton is conducting the 'digital campaign' to encourage customers to get its after-sales activities online, said a press release on Tuesday. Moshiur said he bought four ceiling fans from Walton Plaza, a sales outlet in Kazipara, on August 31. — UNB
