Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said Wednesday the government will not sell any state-owned industrial unit or factory for the sake of the country's interest.
He also said huge land will be required in future as the present government has been working for sustainable industrialisation.
His remarks came during a meeting with the leaders of the federation of sugarcane farmers at the ministry.
The minister said the government has taken initiatives to make the state-owned loss-making industries profitable through BMRE (balancing, modernisation, rehabilitation and expansion) and product diversification.
He assured the sugarcane farmers of paying their dues and gradually solving other problems in the sector.
