Oman seeks to hire more BD manpower

Oman expressed its willingness to hire more Bangladeshi skilled and semi-skilled workers to work in the Gulf country as they are abiding by the rules and regulations of the Sultanate.
Omani minister of manpower Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah Al Bakri made the observation on Tuesday when state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam met the minister of the Sultanate in Muscat.
The Omani minister also expressed desire to keep on regular consultations and discussions with Bangladesh to create more opportunities for Bangladeshi workers, said officials of the ministry of foreign affairs.
Quoting the Omani minister state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam, who is now in Oman on an official visit, said that there remained great opportunities in SMEs sector but it needed strengthening development of co-operation between the two countries.
The Gulf state is likely to host the Bangladesh-Oman 4th Joint Committee Meeting (technical committee) to discuss all the issues relating to employment of Bangladeshi workers in Oman, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).  
During the meeting, the Omani minister highlighted the contribution made by the Bangladeshi workers in the development of Oman's economy, especially in the field of construction and agriculture. Oman is currently hosting more than half a million Bangladeshi workers both male and female.
Shahriar Alam told the Omani minister that Bangladesh was ready and willing to provide more skilled and semi skilled manpower in the rapidly growing industrial and service sectors of the Sultanate, based on the demand of the Omani government as well as the private sector.
In this regard Mr Alam also stated that Bangladesh has professional, technical, skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled young workforces who can be employed in the Sultanate for its further economic development. The Oman minister heartily welcomed Bangladeshi skilled and semi-skilled workers to work in Oman abiding by the rules and regulations.
Saeed bin Saleh Al Kiyumi, chairman, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who also enjoys the status of a cabinet minister.
Shahriar Alam also held meeting with Saeed bin Saleh Al Kiyumi, chairman, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who also enjoys the status of a cabinet minister, had shown keen interest to enhance the bilateral trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The chamber also showed interest to form a Bangladesh-Oman Joint Business Council with the participation from businessmen from both the countries, who can enhance cooperation further in the field of trade, commerce and investment.  
Mr Alam also highlighted the country's potential as a producer of world class export quality products. He said the Bangladesh can offer a lot of products and services with higher quality and competitive price, like readymade garments, textiles, software, frozen food, ceramic, agro-based products, plastic, wooden furniture, regular furniture and steal products, pharmaceutical products, etc.
He sought the chamber's cooperation in facilitating an expeditious visa procedure for Bangladeshi business people and invited its chairman to lead a high level business delegation to Bangladesh to explore opportunities in different sectors, especially in the Maritime sectors. Oman got direct experience in deep sea fishing.
