CHATTOGRAM, Aug 23: Uncertainty looms about opening of Chattogram elevated expressway following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government.
Sources said the construction work on the ramps of the country's largest expressway has come to a halt, so its partial opening is uncertain.
One portion of the expressway was scheduled to open to traffic by June 2024.
The expressway project was inaugurated on November 14, 2023. The expressway will have 15 ramps at various points.
Project Director and CDA Executive Engineer Mahfuzur Rahman said that the project team has intention to complete construction of all the ramps by June 2025.
"The project is under construction at a cost of Tk 4,298 crore and is expected to be completed in June 2024."
The project is almost completed while construction of ramps is underway. The construction of ramps will be completed by June in 2025."
