Philippines envoy meets CCCI leaders

Philippines Ambassador Alan L Deniega held a courtesy meeting with leaders of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) at its World Trade Centre (WTC) office in Chattogram on Monday

CHATTOGRAM, Mar 15: Ambassador of the Philippines Alan L Deniega held a courtesy meeting with leaders of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) at their World Trade Centre (WTC) office in the port city on Monday morning.

Alan L Deniega said Bangladesh and the Philippines were enjoying 50 years of friendship.

"There are friendly relations between the people of two countries. The upcoming visit of Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina to the Philippines will open a new door of relationship."

"We have to work together for our future," said the envoy, adding that they would do their best to increase investments in the private sector here.

CCCI President Mahbubul Alam, who chaired the meeting, said the private sector might help develop cooperation between the two countries.

In this regard, he underscored the need for upgrading the existing communication system.

Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of the Philippines in Delhi Eugene Elevado, CCCI Directors Jahid Seraj Swapon, Md Iftekhar Foisal and Mohammed Adnanul Islam, Honarary Consul of the Philippines to Bangladesh MA Awal, and spouse of the envoy Dr Rachel M Deniega were present at the meeting.
